Your local CSA is a partnership between local farmers and community members. This arrangement provides the community member with a variety of fresh, chemical-free produce while, at the same time, guaranteeing your local farmers an outlet for their efforts. See www.localharvest.org for more information about CSAs.
Each CSA membership includes two custom-made bushel baskets (half-bushel baskets in the case of a half share subscription). Each week you will drop off the empty basket and in return, receive your second basket filled with your weekly share of farm fresh produce, as well as the value-added items you may have ordered in advance. All subscriptions last over the duration of our local growing season, approximately 22 weeks, mid-May through mid-October. A full share subscription is based upon the estimated produce needs of a family of four and averages only $30 a week. A half share is roughly half that amount, for a family of two, averaging only $20 a week.
Value-added specialty food items are a selection of baked goods, jams and jellies, pickles, relishes, sauces, and farm fresh unclassified eggs. These items will be available for purchase by filling out and returning an order form with your empty basket. All value-added merchandise is strictly monitored and processed in state certified kitchens.
